In February 2020, the Crocombe family sadly lost their beloved father, husband, brother, friend and teacher - Paul Crocombe, to suicide. Since then, the family have been on a journey to raise awareness, learn and fundraise in the mental health space - and a charity which has become close to their hearts over this time is Sport in Mind.
Last Sunday, a group of over 300 West Midlands police officers, family and friends flocked to Liverpool to take part in the half and full marathon to raise funds and awareness for MNDA and Primrose Hospice...
A huge congratulations to Julie, who recently completed an epic 100 mile challenge to raise funds towards the refurb of the cancer ward at The Children's Hospital Charity in Sheffield - inspired by the outstanding care her son Stan has received over the course of his treatment since 2017.
"This challenge is to honour all the children treated for cancer that we have got to know over the last 3 years. It's for those children we knew who so very sadly died from cancer. It's the biggest thank you to all the staff involved who have cared for Stan and helped us as a family. And of course this is for my son Stan, who has shown so much courage and strength of character throughout that I couldn't be any more proud of him. Thank you so much for any donations."
Earlier this year, keen cyclists Professor Robert Copeland and Ian Brookes - who both work at Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) - set themselves the Beat The Border challenge of cycling 750km in just three days to support the Yorkshire Cancer Research Tour de Walkshire campaign.
