Daz's 24 Hour Challenge

The brakes have been put on a lot of running events in their usual format this year, but many have adapted to provide virtual challenges to keep us motivated and testing ourselves. The Thunder Run’s ‘VR24’ event’s concept was simple – run as much as you can over a 24 hour period. Run wherever you can providing it is safe and sensible to do so.

The event attracted people that have only taken up running in lockdown and worked up to their first ever 10km, through to experienced ultra runners that managed to cover more than 100 miles within the time limit.

Darren has taken part in the Thunder Run for the past two years as part of a team. With the event’s cancellation he participated in the VR24 variation, supported by his friends in the running group Cannock Chase Trail Runners. He completed an amazing 109 miles and raised a fantastic £617 for St Giles Hospice who recently helped his uncle Keith in the process.

Darren’s wife Sarah commissioned this print as a gift to commemorate his feat. Thank you to her for the kind words “I can only say WOW! Absolutely over the moon with the picture, it was a present for my husband who was so happy with it. The attention to detail is brilliant. I can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you Ashleigh, I will be ordering again!”
